PTO Overview

Welcome Back!

On behalf of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) I would like to welcome all new and returning families to St. Veronica for the 2011-2012 school year!   We have a very busy and exciting year ahead of us, and look forward to creating many new wonderful memories together!
The PTO is looking forward to continuing its tradition of supporting the many aspects of your children’s education.  In the past, the PTO has raised funds to contribute to school equipment, teacher supplies, school-wide assemblies, the Science Fair, and field trips to name just a few. In order to continue these efforts, the PTO has chosen to support the following fundraisers:
  •      Innisbrook gift wrap – August 30 – September 18th
  •  7th Annual Golf Tournament – Thursday, October 6th
  •  Gala Dinner, Dance and Auction – Date TBD
  •  Race for Education – Date TBD
In addition, the PTO is committed to finding other ways of raising money for St. Veronica School.   Our no cost to you fundraisers - box tops, Campbell’s soup labels, grocery cards and ink jet printer cartridge recycling program -  have HUGE earning potential for our school, so be on the look-out for these flyers in your Friday Folders.  We are hoping for 100% family participation this year!
We invite you to become involved with our school! Look for PVC sign-up sheets at Back to School night, as well as in your child’s Friday folder and through our regular PTO newsletter.  Our first general membership meeting will be held in conjunction with the lower school Back to School night, September 13th at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
We are excited about the upcoming year and have many activities planned.  We look forward to seeing you at the general membership meetings.  Please feel free to contact any one of the member of the PTO with questions throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Keating
PTO President

 Parent Teacher Organization Overview

The St. Veronica Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is sponsored by the School to promote a cooperative effort at meeting certain needs of the student body.

The PTO strives:

  • To serve in an advisory capacity to support the principal/administration;
  • To provide a means by which parents can respectfully articulate their values and expectations regarding the school so that these can be examined and addressed by the principal/administration;
  • To support and promote quality Catholic education at the school;
  • To encourage Catholic values of family life;
  • To share with teachers the values that parents are attempting to develop with their children at home;
  • To acquaint parents with up-to-date information concerning current developments in educational initiatives as they may affect the School so that they can be in a better position to promote the legitimate rights of their children;
  • To unify parents in an effort to raise funds each year for school needs.

Coordinated through the PTO, St. Veronica Catholic School welcomes the help of parents, relatives, and friends. Volunteers are encouraged to help in school during school hours, at home with special activities, or with PTO fundraisers and activities.

We especially need volunteers to assist in the library, lunchroom, and on the playground at lunch recess. You do not need to have a child enrolled in the school to be a volunteer.

PTO Volunteers and VIRTUS

All volunteers are required by the Diocese of Arlington to attend a VIRTUS training course on sexual misconduct entitled "Protecting God's Children." Please go to www.VIRTUS.org to register for this class.

In addition to the VIRTUS training, volunteers supervising students will be required to be fingerprinted and undergo a background check. Please bring a check in the amount of $30 to cover the Diocesan charge for processing background paperwork. Check should be made payable to "St. Veronica School".

Once VIRTUS training and background checks are complete, please submit your paperwork to the school office.
