In order to promote healthy food choices and
eating for all students, the following food items will be acceptable as
a mid-morning classroom snack.
Healthy snack foods for your child:
Fresh fruit – grapes, apple slices, orange, banana, strawberries,
berries, peaches, etc
Dried fruit – raisins, banana chips, apricots, cranberries, etc
Cheese – cheese sticks, slices
Yogurt cup – NO "GO-GURT" ALLOWED. Provide a spoon please.
Fresh vegetables – carrots, cucumber slices, green pepper, etc
Whole grain crackers or bread
Pudding or Jell-O cups – Provide spoon.
Rice cakes or popcorn cakes
Fruit juice – 100% juice preferred for better nutrition
NO "LUNCHABLES" for snack
Please remember this is a SMALL snack and not a
meal. Snacks with high sugar content should be avoided as these are
"empty" calories and will only satisfy your child’s hunger for a short
period of time. Students will be eating their snack at their desk so
snack food must not be messy or require excessive clean up.
